Building HVAC

Searle has many years experience of supplying dry air coolers and air cooled condensers for use in building heating,

ventilating and air conditioning applications.

Searle has, for many years, been supplying dry air coolers and air-cooled condensers for use in building heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems. Searle has adapted its wide range of products and services to meet the ever changing demands of this market place, and so remains a leading supplier of solutions for temperature control in buildings. In addition, Searle offers unmatched technical support and excellent manufacturing capability and capacity. Based on many years experience in this market-place, Searle can combine these resources to work with customers in designing and manufacturing bespoke solutions to meet any building application.

Searle’s extensive portfolio of standard products for this market-place includes dry air coolers (DACs) and air-cooled condensers, all of which are certified under the Eurovent “Certify-all” scheme. This provides assurance, through independent product testing, that duty and noise data are stated accurately. This allows cooling systems to be designed with confidence using correctly sized and matched equipment, leading to lower capital outlay and reduced running costs through improved energy efficiency. Unit selection is made easy using Searle’s Selection Software Program.

Searle offers one of the most comprehensive ranges of Eurovent-certified air-cooled condensers in Europe. With capacities ranging from 7.5kW up to 1330kW at nominal conditions, and with many fan/discharge options available, there is a condenser to suit all building applications. A large choice of fan/motor assemblies ensures that the most demanding noise limitations can be met. Units can be specified with a choice of coil materials giving added protection in aggressive atmospheres, and circuiting can be specified to suit the requirements and layout of the system(s). Free cooling and heat reclaim may be factored into the system. Flatbed units can be mounted vertically or horizontally, and V-bank units are available. All Searle’s condensers can be configured to operate as dry-air liquid coolers.

The use of dry air coolers (DACs) in place of cooling towers in air conditioning systems has become more commonplace in recent years as DACs avoid the threat of Legionella associated with the use of open ‘wet’ systems, and can offer a more versatile and space-saving solution. In addition, ever increasing demands on plant performance and space restrictions have led to Searle to develop a comprehensive adiabatic system (for DACs and air-cooled condensers) which can be supplied factory fitted to new units or as a retrofit kit. The system incorporates many safety features and conforms to the design requirements of ACOP L8 ("The Control of Legionella Bacteria in Water Systems").

The adiabatic system further increases Searle's extensive range of accessories for DACs and air-cooled condensers for use in building cooling systems. These include, fan step controllers (for temperature and pressure), inverter driver systems (in some instances the use of speed controllers can meet the requirements of the Government's Enhanced Capital Allowance (ECA) scheme, offering real financial benefits for end users), leg extensions, air straighteners and anti-vibration mounts.

Many large buildings – including offices, hospitals and hotels – are taking advantage of Searle’s products to provide compact, energy-efficient and quiet solutions to temperature control applications. Searle works closely with consultants, contractors and end-users to help provide these solutions, offering technical advice, expertise and back-up.
