Searle NewsSearle's LSR dual discharge cooler range expands (released February 2006)
Searle supplies Marks & Spencer stores with the latest innovations (released September 2005)
The new units provide Marks & Spencer with an up-to-date, modular product. The design review focused on the integration of separate component assemblies into one common refrigeration system. Searle achieved this by using the latest technology in components and fitting, including integral directly mounted compressor controls and intelligent electronic controls. The design review has reduced the number of mechanical joints and wiring runs, thus eliminating potential leak points, and further improving reliability and efficiency. Robert Arthur, Refrigeration Technologist of Marks & Spencer Plc said: “Marks and Spencer work continually with our suppliers in development of our refrigeration systems. The design modifications applied ensure we have the most reliable, efficient and up-to-date product. It's just one of the ways we're working with our suppliers to perfect Environmental long-term refrigeration solutions for our stores.” Ray White retires from Searle (released June 2005)Ray White, Sales Application Manager for Searle has retired after nearly eleven years of service for the company.
Commenting on his decision, Ray White said: “I wish my customers and colleagues all the best”. He added: “I am looking forward to spending my retirement walking and going to the gym, although my wife has a long DIY list for me to do!” Sean Armitage, General Sales Manager UK commented: “Ray has made a tremendous contribution to Searle, both with his experience and enthusiasm, over the past eleven years. While his colleagues regret his decision to retire we fully understand his desire to pursue other interests. On behalf of his colleagues and customers I would like to wish him the very best in the years ahead.” Searle RAK Offers Stackable Space-Saving Solution (released April 2005)
The RAK range of scroll compressor condensing units comprises five low temperature and eight medium temperature models using refrigerants R404A/R507 and R407C. Capacity range is from 2.0 to 12.4 kW. The units use the latest generation compliant scroll compressors and high-efficiency external rotor fansets. Condenser coils have copper tubes with vinyl-coated aluminium fins for enhanced corrosion resistance. The control panel includes a mains isolator, PCB-mounted controls for improved reliability and ease of servicing, full compressor motor protection and low ambient fan speed control. The stacking arrangement, using the optional frame, allows two units to be mounted one above the other. Frames can be multiplexed for additional units, whilst the modular design allows individual units to be removed for layout changes, repair or replacement.Searle and Raffel show new products at RAC05 (released March 2005)** Winner of the Cooler Questionnaire Competition was Nick Smith from York Refrigeration **
The new products included the NCU-SQ 'Hush' condensing unit, having operational noise levels of 33dB(A) which gained much interest due to its insulated compressor box, although how Searle achieves such low noise levels in a compact unit remained a closely guarded secret throughout the show. Searle also showed a number of new special compressor-based units, displaying their expertise in designing and building such solutions to meet specific customer requirements. These include rack-mounted multi-compressor units and special two, three and four compressor housed units. Many existing customers were given a live demonstration of the new website as there was a live communications link from the stand to the internet. Not only are website users able to perform interactive selections and view stock availability, but account holders with a username and password can create orders. Searle’s sister company, Raffel, specialist manufacturers of industrial refrigeration equipment, showed their brand new 5ISF range of coolers. Featuring stainless steel coils for use with ammonia, the coolers offer a nominal capacity range from 8 to 130kW. Two air velocities are available to suit different applications and a double skin drip tray is standard. The cooler can also be operated with CO2. Searle Extends Condensing Unit Range (released February 2005)
The N2CU range utilises two compliant scroll compressors to offer capacities from 4 to 24 kW operating on R404A/R507 and R407C. The twin compressor configuration provides capacity control in steps of 100% and 50% to suit projects with a variable refrigeration load. There are five low temperature and eight medium temperature models. All units are carefully designed to minimise noise – separate, acoustically lined compressor compartment and low-noise fansets - helping to achieve sound levels as low as 38dB(A). The NCU-SQ “Hush” range offers three models, all with ultra-low noise performance, down to as low as 33dB(A). Built to the same high standards as the NCU range, the NCU-SQ has the compressor resiliently mounted inside a specially designed acoustic box with mechanical ventilation. In addition, the slow running condenser fan features low ambient speed regulation using a purpose-designed noiseless controller with high ambient override function. The models have been specially designed for the most demanding of applications requiring the lowest running noise levels. |

The number of models in the range has been increased with the addition of a single fan unit, thus extending the lowest duty down to 7kW. The LSR dual discharge cooler (7kW to 63kW) has been designed for use where low air velocities are required, such as in occupied areas, or where the advantages of dual air discharge suits the layout of the refrigerated space. LSR units are fast and easy to install, and can be mounted flush to the ceiling (aiding hygiene requirements). Hinged drain pans and fan plates are standard, as are removable access panels at each end, offering easy access for cleaning, maintenance and servicing.
Searle has been successful in securing main store business from Marks & Spencer for 2005/2006, and the latest units are now coming off the production line. The new CCU units, updated from the previous MSU units, come in 60kW, 80kW and 100kW capacities, and a new 50kW capacity.
Ray’s career in the refrigeration industry began in 1967 as a Senior Project Engineer for APV Hall. Ray joined Searle in October 1994 as a Senior Applications Engineer and in June 1999 became Sales Applications Manager. As a testament to his dedication, Ray delayed his retirement date for 6 months to help the company through the start of 2005, but now is ready for the delights of life away from work.
Searle has announced the launch of a new concept in space-saving, labour-saving condensing units. The scroll-based RAK units themselves are extremely compact and are supplied pre-wired ready to install. In addition, a key feature of the range is that units can be stacked two-high, using an optional frame, and multiplexed alongside each other if required. This arrangement offers sigificant space-saving benefits, and allows a unique flexibility in design layout – ideal for use in food manufacturing, storage and retail industries including food preparation areas, cold storage facilities, convenience stores, garage forecourt shops and supermarkets.
Searle displayed several new products and range extensions, as well as its recently launched website, at the RAC 2005 exhibition, held on 1st – 3rd March 2005 at NEC, Birmingham. Sharing the stand (Stand F112) with sister companies Dawmec and Raffel, Searle also displayed examples from across its broad portfolio of cooling products, including coolers, condensers, dry-air coolers, condensing units and coils.
Searle has announced two important new range extensions to its popular SCU/NCU condensing units. The N2CU offers a greater capacity range and additional control options, whilst the NCU-SQ “Hush” range offers ultra-low noise performance. All ranges combine a modern, streamlined appearance with low noise levels, high energy efficiency and compact dimensions - features which make the units ideal for the catering and food retail industries including food preparation areas, cold storage facilities, convenience stores, garage forecourt shops and supermarkets.
